Wrecking cop admits to one-week training

THE POLICE OFFICER who charged attorney Wilston Campbell with obstructing him as he attempted to wreck Campbell's car on Friday admitted he had one week of training on the wrecker before he laid the charge.

Campbell's attorney Ainsley Lucky took PC Vidja Harripersad through the specifics of wrecking a vehicle before Magistrate Melvin Daniel. Harripersad said the vehicle was being wrecked, as the wrecking harness was on and the wrecker and automobile were in motion.

Harripersad added that the wheels of Campbell's car were off the ground when the incident occurred.

Campbell was before the San Fernando Second Magistrates' Court charged with obstructing Harripersad in his duties, when he refused to get out of his car which was about to be towed while at Lower High Street, San Fernando on July 29.

It was alleged Campbell sat in the driver's seat of the white Nissan B-13 car, rolled up the glass and locked the door when he was asked to come out of it.

The matter continues today.
