US Secretary of Energy Samuel W Bodman will co-chair an energy infrastructure roundtable discussion with Energy Minister Conrad Enill today.

A press release from the United States Embassy Public Affairs section said yesterday: “His visit will serve to highlight the countries’ joint efforts to ensure steady energy supplies, increase energy infrastructure security and advance economic development and prosperity in the Western Hemisphere.”

During his visit, Bodman would meet with Prime Minister Patrick Manning and business leaders.

The release said during these meetings, Bodman would highlight the importance the US places on expanding alternative and renewable energy as well as ways to produce, deliver and use traditional fossil fuels more cleanly and efficiently.

Bodman would also highlight the role of independent regulatory regimes and open and transparent investment climates in promoting energy investments.

Bodman is expected to speak with the media at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain, after a breakfast meeting hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce, between 9.10 am and 9.30 am today.
