Traffic diversion for Bamboo #1 residents

Transport Minister Colm Imbert has advised that due to the Churchill Roosevelt Highway/ Uriah Butler Highway Interchange project, there will be a traffic diversion for the residents of Bamboo Village No 1 in "the near future" and motorists will no longer be able to use the current exit out of the area.

Speaking on Tuesday at the "final push" of the project at the site, he noted that an alternative access route for the village has been designed and the roads along the route upgraded. He reported out that there have been consultations and meetings with residents and he has been informed that there is general agreement for the use of this proposed alternative route.

He said a shuttle bus service will be provided free of charge and will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. to transport children and those pedestrians from the area who cannot easily travel across the highway.
