TT mixed martial artist outslugs top CanadianThursday, July 24 2008
THE Caribbean Fighting Championships III hosted by the CKGSF was the biggest Mixed Martial Arts tournament held in Trinidad to date and proved to be a major success.
The main event between Trinidadian Ryan Ramkissoon and Canadian Adam France lived up to all the hype and publicity, as it drove the crowd wild.
Ramkissoon gained an early advantage when he mounted Adam and rained punches, drawing first blood.
Whether it was his sense of duty and loyalty, or just the pure energy he got from the crowd, Ramkissoon rose to the challenge making TT proud.
Jamaican Christopher McDonald choked his opponent Trinidadian Dwayne Hinds into a reluctant submission in the middle weight division. And Tobagonian Adrian Williams won the Light weight Division making his opponent Julien Joseph submit to an arm-bar while Derrick Richards another Tobago brother won his fight with Megueal Julien.
Returning champion Narad Ramkilawan performed a hattrick and took home his third consecutive win, ending the fight in the second round making his opponent Bradley Samdeo submit. The only female bout, Nisha Ali vs Stasia Joseph, saw Joseph dominating the fight to emerge the victor.
Simply put the event was spectacular and it left everyone with a thirst for more.Leroy Jones, Keston Hughes and Keron Williams scored for Mayaro Boys while Kenrick Douglas notched the solitary item for Mafeking.
Action in the Senior Division continued when Ozone met Mandingo United. And today Mayaro Spurs face Sand Storm Strikers while Grand Lagoon will go up against Union tomorrow.
Following the weekend break, the league will resume on Monday when Mandingo will continue the campaign to be repeat champions when they face Mafeking United and Mayaro Boys will vie against Ozone on Tuesday.
