Shuttle service for panman's funeral today

So large a crowd is expected for the funeral of panman and licensing officer Edme "Gazo" Gibbons that arrangements have been put in place for parking at the Licensing compound, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.

A shuttle service will take mourners to and from the service, which begins at 9 a.m. today at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Independence Square, Port of Spain.

Gibbons's death in a vehicular accident early on Independence morning on the Audrey Jeffers Highway, has inspired a week-long period of mourning in the Diamond Vale area where he lived. Each evening, flambeaux have been lit in the vicinity of the shopping plaza where he would go most evenings for a drink at the pub with friends.

A tribute to their former captain also took place last Friday evening at the Phase 2 Pan Groove Hamilton Street, Woodbrook, headquarters.

Such was the mark of affection felt for Gibbons that on Wednesday evening, friends and colleagues gathered at another favourite haunt of his-the Mas Camp Pub in Woodbrook.

Candles were lit outside the venue, while there was a musical send-off reminiscent of his 50th birthday party held there on June 14.
