Roberts, Carvalho maintain lead

OVERNIGHT LEADER: Talin Rajendranath

Mikail Roberts maintained his lead over Jeremy Pantin in the Boys 16-17 age group with a 36-hole total of 155 at the end of the second round of the Republic Bank Trinidad and Tobago Junior Open at St Andrews Golf Club, Moka, Maraval yesterday.

And Nikka Carvalho, competing in the Girls 16-17 category, also sustained her lead and finished the day with a cumulative total of 175.

In the Boys 14-15 age group, overnight leader Talin Rajendranath shot a 78 to finish day two on 153, while his closest rival Jessel Mohammed remained a distant second after shooting 81 yesterday to finish with a 36-hole score of 168.

In the Girls 14-15 division, Aleema Jack improved on her opening round on Monday, shooting a four-over-par 76 to finish on 161, with Brittany Marquez trailing after her second-day 82 which left her on 173.

Boys 13 and Under leader Matthew Marquez played a steady round on the second day with a two-over 74 (151) to keep ahead of second place Nathan Jack, who carded a round of 82 (172).

The Girls 13 and Under group is led by Arianne MacKenzie (181), who has a clear lead over second-placed Kezia Bailey.

Play in the 54-hole Republic Bank Trinidad and Tobago Junior Open ends today and the age-group golfers contesting the main event will be joined on the St Andrew's course by 23 young players playing in the nine-hole category.
