AKO PASCALL scored 29 points to guide local basketball powerhouse Marabella Raptors to an 88-75 win over Rooks Warriors in the South Zone Basketball Commission 2008 Championship last week.

Raptors benefited from 18 points from Steve Neils and 11 from Asfa Grant in the win. Kern Dottin and Kern Mohammed were the only ones who put up some resistence for the Warriors with 22 and 16 points respectively.

The Petro Jazz were also among the big winners last week when they whipped the Longdenville Bullets 78-39.

The Jazz took an early 48-15 half-time lead, thanks to Jeremy Thomas who scored 20 and Marlon Lera who finished with 19.

In another match Rooks Warriors clobbered Petro Veterans 73-53. But they were made to fight hard early on, after trailing 29-27 at the half-way stage.

The Petro Veterans outfit rebounded later by defeating Extra Royal Lions 49-45. They got 12 points from Curt Alexander and 11 from Ronald Williams despite trailing 30-22 at the half-time interval.
