Rajendranath, Jack among leaders in Junior Golf Open

ACTION in the seventh annual Republic Bank Junior Golf Open got underway yesterday at St Andrew's Golf Club, Moka.

Play will continue from 8.30 a.m. today and conclude tomorrow.

There will also be a nine-hole competition with 23 ten and under and 11 and under girls and boys tomorrow.

Yesterday, national players Matthew Marquez and Arianne Mackenzie ended play with the lead in the under-13 categories.

Marquez shot a five-over-par 77 and was ahead of Nathan Jack, while Mackenzie shot 90 to leave Ursula Bissessar in second place.

Talin Rajendranath, who competed for winners Trinidad and Tobago in the Stephen Ames Cup at the same venue earlier this month, leads Jessel Mohammed in the Boys' 14-15 division after a three-over 75.

Aleema Jack shot an 85 to be the girls' leader from Brittany Marquez.

Mikail Roberts and Nikka Carvalho are out front in the 16-17 categories with a three-over 75 and an 88, respectively.

Jeremy Pantin trails Roberts and Shivani Sibaran is following Carvalho.
