UNITED PETROTRIN maintained their 100 per cent record on Saturday, edging powerhouse Vibe CT105 W Connection with a 1-0 triumph at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground in their T&T Pro League Round One Match Day Four fixture.
A second half strike by Simeon Augustus, capitalising on a collision between Connection goalkeeper Marvin Phillip and defender Kelvin Modeste, was the decider in a keenly-contested clash witnessed by Trinidad and Tobago head coach Francisco Maturana and assistant Anton Corneal.
The victory by United Petrotrin sees the Brian Williams-coached "Oil Boys" retain top spot in the T&T Pro League with 12 points, closely followed by defending champions CLICO San Juan Jabloteh in second with ten points.
As for W Connection, the Stuart Charles Fevrier-coached club slipped two places into fifth, failing to add to their six points.
The leaders, enjoying their best form at the Pro League level, will face sixth place Defence Force next Saturday, while W Connection will tackle third place Joe Public as they try to rebound.
On Saturday, W Connection had their fair share of the game but failed to capitalise on their chances. In the very first minute, Dominican Republic striker Jonathon Frias was denied on two occasions by Petrotrin goalkeeper Curtis Granger.
The hosts also enjoyed many chances, forcing goalkeeper Phillip into action, but had to wait until the 63rd minute for the winner
