Objection costs punter $120,000

AN OBJECTION against second-placed Wrathed in race five-the Hi-5 race on Monday's Sagicor-sponsored ten-race card, cost one unknown 'unlucky' punter over $120,000.

Roger Hadeed, Arima Race Club's management committee member, who is the chairman of the Promotion and Betting committee said: "Before the objection to Wrathed, we had one winner. When Wrathed was disqualified and placed third, we did not have any winner".

"We now have a carryover of $67,205.69 plus the single winner bonus of $56,000 which will be carried over to this Saturday's Hi-5 race" Hadeed stated.

Wrathed, who finished second to Most Definitely, was disqualified and placed third after the rider, Joshua Stephen on third-placed finisher, Dance On, objected against the rider, Keishan Balgobin on Wrathed for interference near the finish line.

The amended result read: Most Definitely, Dream On, Wrathed, All Raise and Double Agent.

And not rubbing salt in punters' wounds, the connections of Dance On said they were very surprised that Wrathed was disqualified and placed third. They felt Dance On was already beaten and Wrathed should not have been disqualified.
