LEE-ANNE LINGO is back in the United States after disappointing in International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior tournaments in the Caribbean over the last two weeks.
The 15-year-old Trinidad and Tobago player, who is based part-time in New York and Maryland, was beaten in the second round in the under-18 division of an ITF event in Bahamas last week by third-seeded Melissa Bolivar of Colombia.
Lingo, who had halted Bahamian Elanqua Griffin 6-3, 7-5 in the first round, and Rebecca Aguirre of Mexico, lost their first doubles match to the No. 3 seeds in three sets.
The week before, Lingo had made it to the doubles semi-finals in Bermuda but had lost her opening singles match to her American doubles partner.
Lingo has resumed training in Maryland but is expected to be back home in September. She had been training in New York for a short time early this year but came back in March to represent the country in the Junior Fed Cup in Honduras.
A few weeks later, Lingo travelled to Bolivia as a member of the senior Fed Cup team for American Zone Group II of the world's premier female team tennis tournament.
But just before leaving home, she was stunned in the semis of National Championships by Dayna Grazette.
Lingo also went out in the semis of doubles and mixed doubles as her Fed Cup teammate Carlista Mohammed went on to capture a rare triple crown.
