JANE KENNEDY emerged the winner of the recent Open Ladies Chess Championship organised by the Valkyries Chess Club.

The leading female chessist collected $1,000 and a trophy for her excellent performance.

The tournament was held at the COSTAATT Campus in Port-of- Spain and was sponsored by Mary King and Associates Limited. Kennedy was presented with her prizes by former sponsor Senator Mary King and president of the Valkyries Chess Club, Petronilla Araujo.

Placing second in the tournament was national Women’s champion Aditi Soondarsingh while there was a tie for third place between Melissa Pereira and Javanna Smith. Soondarsingh was awarded $500 for her effort and Pereira and Smith got $250 each.
