TRAINERS Anthony Serville and Fred De Freitas, whose shedrow was damaged by a fallen tree during last Saturday's bad weather, have had their horses relocated to other stables within the Santa Rosa Park paddock.
Arima Race Club track and paddock manager Nicholas Beepath confirmed that Serville's five horses and De Freitas's three horses were moved.
This action came after the dangers posed to the horses were raised in yesterday's Express.
Last Saturday, the ARC was forced to cancel races two, three and four after heavy rain and strong breeze, along with lightning and thunder, at Santa Rosa.
The weather left in its path a mass of destruction islandwide. At the Santa Rosa paddock, the stable in which claimer Fortheloveofit was stabled was damaged by a fallen tree.
Trainer Serville said: "It is a lucky thing that Fortheloveofit was claimed from Saturday's first race, otherwise he could have been dead."
"They wanted to put our horses in the quarantine area, but we managed to get other stables in the paddock. Trainers Patrick De Freitas and Jules Miller, whose stabled were flooded out, stated the club has not done anything to ease their problems. And their losses, when quantified, are high," Serville told the Express yesterday.
Serville said Beepath informed him that a work crew was coming to deal with the fallen tree some time yesterday.
Miller said: "I spoke to (Arima Race Club president) Kama Maharaj on Sunday and he casually brushed me aside. This same flooding happened last year on Emancipation Day and they did absolutely nothing.
"Beepath came by, but his hands are tied. He reports what is happening, but nothing is being done and it will happen again if the drain is not fixed."
And ARC chief executive officer Andre Cornelis said:
"My maintenance officer did not tell me that a tree had fallen. They told me that a stable was perforated from a branch that fell on it, and that it did not pose any immediate danger because no horse was in the stable. They said they could not get the equipment to deal with it and will deal with it on Monday.
"Beepath told me he cleared the branches that fell in the paddock, but I was not told that a complete tree had fallen," added Cornelis, who was cleaning out his own house which was  flooded on Saturday.
When asked to comment on Arima Race Club president Maharaj's claim of insurbordination among the ARC staff, he replied: "I have not had any contact with Mr Kama Maharaj, and he has not contacted me. He has not given me any specific instructions. Before I left on Saturday I spoke to my managers and they assured me there wasn't any immediate danger."
