Energy Ministry Sando office to move to PoS

The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries' office in San Fernando is to be relocated to a new site in Port of Spain.

The office is one of several units attached to the Ministry which are to be centralised in the capital city, it was learned.

Currently, the Ministry's southern office is at the Masca building, Cross Crossing, San Fernando.

Alicia Carter-Fisher, the Ministry's communications manager, told the Express: "The timing of the move is being finalised at the moment. The plan is to develop the services of the Ministry into a world-class organisation where we could better satisfy the needs of our clients."

She added: "We are in the process of finalising arrangements to relocate the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries to a central location, which will be designed to provide better facilities for staff, including better work space to meet the requirements of health and safety."

Carter-Fisher said the Ministry was examining all its contractual obligations with current landlords, with a view to honouring all its obligations.

The Ministry's head office is located at Riverside Plaza, Port of Spain.

Carter-Fisher said the Ministry was willing to discuss with stakeholders how they could be affected by the shift to Port of Spain.

One of the Ministry's clients, involved in finding oil and gas, said the move from San Fernando to Port of Spain should not affect companies involved in drilling and exploration.

"As far as I know, the South operations of the Ministry deal mainly with royalty and well records," he said.
