THE EDUCATION Ministry has until today to respond to concerns by parents of pupils attending the Aranjuez Government Primary School.

President of the school’s Parent Teacher Association Edward Reid said five letters were sent out to various departments at the ministry about problems at the school, particularly a water shortage problem which resulted in water being provided by the Fire Services.

Reid said parents are prepared to protest if the ministry does not respond.

The school has been without a supply of pipe-borne water for the past few weeks and Reid said several students fell ill after drinking the water provided for them.

They are calling for bottled water to be provided for students.

Reid said it was reported that after a visit by a school supervisor from the Tunapuna Educational District, tests done on the water showed that it was safe for drinking.

But he has disputed these claims, saying it was not true. Reid is calling on someone from the Education Ministry to visit the school and see the problems first hand.

“Four more students fell sick again after drinking the water. We are giving the ministry until Wednesday (today) to respond and if not, we are going to protest,” he said.
