Dad killed; St Ann's for son

A 23-year-old man who allegedly killed his father last weekend was yesterday ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Christopher Bissoon, of Debe, stood in the prisoner's dock at the San Fernando First Magistrates' Court with both his palms bandaged when the order was made.

The charge of murdering Glen Bissoon, which was laid indictably, was read by Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington.

Bissoon's lawyer, Dexter Bailey, said Bissoon suffered from a mental condition between 2006 to 2007 and was once a patient at Ward One of the San Fernando General Hospital.

Bailey said Bissoon was harmful not only to himself but to other prisoners.

The attorney's request for his client to be sent to the St Ann's Hospital for an observation report to be formulated was granted as no official document could be presented to show his mental capacity.

Bissoon was ordered to reappear in court on June 25.

It is alleged that shortly after his 53-year-old father returned from church Bissoon stabbed him.
