The top brass of the Police Service has expressed concern over apparent threats placed on the lives of a top government official and officers of the Morvant Police Station.

The message, according to police sources, was discovered on a blackboard at Angelina Terrace in Never Dirty, Morvant.

Officers said the threats, written in chalk, were spotted on a public notice board since Sunday.

Death threats were also issued to head of the North-Eastern Divisional Task Force Sgt Roger Alexander.

The notice also warned of the impending “funerals” of the government minister and Alexander.

At the bottom of the message were the words “by dragnet.”

Earlier this year, Alexander’s name, along with PCs Primdass and Constantine were written in chicken blood on piece of cardboard and tacked onto a utility pole at Morvant.

Above the names were three chicken heads with the feet stuffed into the mouths.

Contacted yesterday, acting Deputy Police Commissioner Gilbert Reyes said he was not aware of the message written on the notice board.

Reyes, however, described the threats as “very serious” and promised that an immediate investigation would be launched.

Officers from the North-Eastern Division, who have been conducting probes, said they were told by Never Dirty residents that the message was spotted early Sunday morning.

Residents told police they had no knowledge regarding the origin of the threats.

Officers said there were working on one theory that “dragnet” may refer to a newly-emerged gang in Morvant.

Police unfazed

Despite several threats to his life, Alexander said he would not allow criminal elements to deter him from carrying out his responsibilities as a police officer.

Alexander said both he and the government minister had “love for the people we serve.”

“I have been a police officer for several years and I will continue to do my work to the best of my ability,” Alexander said yesterday.
