CARIBBEAN Airlines executive vice president of Operations Captain Ian Brunton said yesterday passengers could expected the airline’s schedule to return to normal, soon.

Brunton admitted that there have been delays and flight cancellations but said they were as a result of rainy weather and a damaged aircraft.

He said a series of unfortunate events caused delays and the cancellation of flights last week.

“We had a series of problems that were beyond our control that negatively affected our schedule,” he said. He said the weather associated with the Summer season in New York and Toronto had been one of the reasons for delays.

He said one of its flights had to be diverted to Philadelphia after the New York airport was closed off recently, and said the airline had also encountered problems in Florida because of Tropical Storm, Fay.

Brunton also said the airline’s Bombardier Dash 8, which flies the Tobago airbridge was damaged when it was hit by a service vehicle on Friday, causing further problems for the airline. As a result, he said a Boeing 737 aircraft had to be used to service the Tobago route. “The aircraft is still being repaired,”he said.
