Breakfast Shed reopens Monday

Thursday, July 3 2008

THE Femme Du Chalet (Breakfast Shed) is expected to reopen for business on Monday as repair work on the site is expected to be completed by week’s end.

This according to Roxanne Stapleton-Whyms, head of the Public Affairs Department of the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (Udecott).

She said that affected tenants of the restaurant will be engaged in clean-up activities at the end of this week right up to Sunday in time for resumption of business the day after.

Bernadette Smith said she was very relieved that the restaurant would be reopened next week but felt that compensation for lost earnings should be paid to her and other owners who have been deprived of two months of profits due to the prolonged closure of the popular eatery located at the waterfront off Wrightson Road in Port-of-Spain which has been at the centre of major infrastructural development over the past several months.

Stapleton-Whyms said the issue of compensation has not been discussed.

It was hoped that the facility would have be ready for reopening at the start of this week.

The facility was closed for close to two months because of a major plumbing problem which could only have been rectified with major repair to existing plumbing infrastructure.
