A time for thanksgiving
...Businessman gives back for Eid

"Giving back" was the theme of an evening of dinner and music when businessman Yusuff Ali held a thanksgiving for scores of children and residents of Enterprise, Chaguanas, during the recent Eid season.

The annual event was held at Ali's home and business on the Southern Main Road.

Everyone was treated to barbecued meals, while the children also received a surprise bag loaded with kiddie favourites like pencils and colourful erasers.

Ali, his wife Samdaye and their family also distributed hampers to several needy families, who later expressed gratitude that someone in the district had taken the time to make such a gesture.

Ali said the annual 'party' was part of his family's way of saying thanks to the community as well something he hoped would be seen as an example to other businesses in the area.

"I have been a businessman in Enterprise for some time and all of these people have supported me," said Ali, who runs a chicken and vegetable depot.

"This is our way of saying thank you and of giving back to the community. It's something I would like to see other businesses in this area do.

"I also want the Government to know that there is a lot of poverty in Enterprise and a lot of young people who need support to make something of their lives. There are many families who are sometimes unable to make ends meet. These people need empowerment."
