A 50-YEAR-OLD man of Valsayn was shot and wounded by gunmen who stormed his house during the early morning hours yesterday. In a separate incident, a 20-year-old man was also shot and wounded while visiting his girlfriend in El Socorro on Monday night.

According to a police report, at about 3.30 am, Sookram Basdeo was at his Pillai Street, Spring Village home when two masked men, armed with guns, broke down the door to his home.

Police said the men announced a hold-up and opened fire at Basdeo who was in one of the rooms. The men then escaped.

Basdeo was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope where he was treated and discharged. Police are yet to determine a motive for the shooting. In the other incident, a 20-year-old man was at Ajodha Street when two cars pulled alongside him and the occupants opened fire.
